Privacy Policy

PetDub Live ("PetDub Live," "we," "us") makes an iOS app that gives your cat or dog a live, AI-generated "voice" through your phone's camera, plus this companion website. This policy explains what information the app and this website handle, and how.

1. Information We Process

• Camera & pet detection. The app processes your live camera feed on your device to locate your cat or dog's head. This happens locally, on-device.
• AI dialogue generation. A keyframe from your camera feed is sent through our backend to Google's Gemini API to generate a short, in-character line of dialogue. We don't retain these images after that session's response is generated. Google, as our AI subprocessor, handles that data under its own applicable terms and privacy practices.
• Optional pet profile. If you add your pet's name and sex, it's stored only on your device, never on our servers, and is included in the prompt sent to Gemini so responses can reference your pet by name.
• Subscriptions & purchases. Payments are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We receive a receipt that we validate to confirm your subscription entitlement; we never receive or store your payment card details.
• Restoring your subscription. There's no account or sign-in. To restore your subscription on a new device, the app asks the App Store for your existing purchase history through Apple's standard StoreKit restore flow, handled via our subscription vendor, RevenueCat.
• Local usage counter. The number of free sessions used today is stored on your device to enforce the free-tier limit. It doesn't leave your device.
• This website. petdub.live is a static page with no forms, accounts, or email capture. Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs standard technical information (e.g. IP address, browser type, request timestamps) for security and reliability, as is normal for web hosting.

2. What We Don't Do

• We don't maintain user accounts, social profiles, or a saved session history/gallery.
• We don't use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs inside the app.
• We don't sell your information.
• We don't use camera images for anything beyond generating that session's dialogue and (transiently) tracking your pet's head position for the on-screen overlay.

3. Third Parties We Work With

• Google (Gemini API): generates the in-character dialogue.
• Apple (App Store, StoreKit): payments and purchase restore.
• RevenueCat: processes subscription transactions and reports verified entitlement status to our backend so it can unlock the app's paid features.
• Vercel: hosting for this website.

Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy policies.

4. Data Retention

• Session images/keyframes: not retained by us once a response is generated.
• Local device data (session counter, optional pet profile, entitlement status): stays on your device until you delete the app or clear its data.
• Receipt/entitlement records: kept only as needed to validate your subscription.

5. Children's Privacy

PetDub Live is not directed at children. The app has no accounts, no user-generated content shared with other people, and no chat or messaging features, so there's no path for a child to expose personal information to us or to other users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

6. Your Choices

• You can revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings. The app can't function without it, since the live camera is the entire product.
• You can delete locally stored data (pet profile, session counter) by deleting the app.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect information in transit to our backend and to Google's API, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app develops. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and we'll give more prominent notice in the app for material changes.
